Where is Budapest on the list of the world’s most stressed-out cities?
A recent study ranked the world’s cities according to how stressed their locals are. Results are quite impressive. Turns out that people in Tokyo are the most likely to burn-out, while I have some good news for the locals of Tallinn. Can you guess where Budapest landed on the list?
About the study
The study was conducted by a sleep research site called Savvy Sleeper who wanted to see which cities have the highest and lowest levels of workplace burnout, Forbes.com reports. A continuous high level of stress causes workplace burnout. The study looked at 69 cities from 53 countries.
The ranking is based on a variety of health and work-related factors, including: “percentage of population sleeping less than seven hours a night, percentage of population working more than 48 hours a week, time spent in traffic, mental health disorders and prevalence, lack of motivation at work, employee “presenteeism” and productivity, lack of vacation days, annual work hours and percentage of stressed-out Glassdoor reviews.”

Main results
Tokyo tops the list for scoring the lowest for motivation and presenteeism and having the highest number of people who sleep fewer than 7 hours a night. Second on the list is Mumbai where people work an average of 65 hours per week.
On the other hand, Tallinn, Estonia turned out the be the lest stressful city to live in in the entire, which is the least stressed-out city in the world. Locals get a generous amount of vacation (an average of 29.1 paid days off), and only 5.6% of the population works over 48 hours per week.
Budapest
If we are looking at the global list, Budapest finished somewhere in the middle at 35th place. However, if we look at European cities only, the situation is more dreadful. The study suggests that on the one hand, Budapest locals experience a generous amount of stress and are struggling with a lack of motivation. On the other hand, we do not have long working hours as only 1% of the population works over 48 hours a week, and we also seem to sleep okay with only 2.8% of the population sleeping less than 7 hours a day.
